Sad...
A week or so ago Al and I went to his 10 year high school reunion. The night before we went to the high school's homecoming game and while we were there we ran into my old band director from junior high. We chatted for several minutes and during that time I asked how the band director from our high school was doing. He told us at that point that his wife was recently diagnosed with a very rare lung disease called LAM. A couple of weeks before her lung had collapsed and she was in the hospital for quite some time. The prognosis is not good. Since the doctors don't have a previous scan of her lungs they don't know how fast the disease is progressing. They do know that she will need a lung transplant at some point but she could sit on the list for a very long time. Ever since I heard this I just can't stop thinking about their family. This man was my mentor all through high school. He played a huge part in shaping who I am today. I emailed him yesterday to let him know that I was thinking of their family and offered to help in any way I could. Please keep his family in your prayers.
